Whether you are on vacation or not, date nights are important. Sometimes you just need to take a break from the kids or from work and just enjoy each other’s company. We’re not marriage counselors, but we understand how important it is to spend time with your significant other. No matter if you are dating, engaged, newlyweds or have been married for years – take a little time out of your hectic schedule to go on a date!
We have paired each date night spot with a nearby restaurant. If you don’t like our suggestions, that’s okay! Mix and match your own date night. Get creative! But, if you need ideas, we’re here to help. Here are three budget-friendly date night ideas at the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
Spooky Date Night:
If you wanted to sneak away from the family for a quick second, pizza and a Ghost Walk make the perfect, low-key date night.
Before getting spooky on a Ghost Walk, grab some authentic West Coast pizza and a brew at Dough Boys. They have three locations along the boardwalk, but we suggest the one on 24th Street, since it’s closer to your next date night spot. They also offer salads, calzones, subs, pasta and burgers. Best of all, th
ey have a full bar! What’s date night without a couple of margaritas or a Cosmo and a beer?
After dinner, walk across the street to the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum for a spooky Ghost Walk. Tuesday and Saturdaynights, they host this haunted program that starts at 7pm and lasts around 90 minutes. A costumed guide tells you spooky stories, and then you can try your hand at ghost hunting in the historic building. It’s only $12 a person, and there’s a coupon to make it even more affordable.
This date night combo is the perfect mix of dinner and a show. It’s something new for you and your better half to enjoy, while living like true locals.
Fishy Date Night:
For all you fishermen and fisherwomen out there, we have the perfect date night combo for you!
The Virginia Beach Fishing Pier, which is open 24/7, is the perfect budget-friendly date night. For $10 per person, you get to fish or crab off the pier, no fishing license required. For an extra fee you can rent a fishing rod or net at the bait and tackle shop. Fish together through sunset, a super romantic way to spend date night.
When the sun goes down, or you’ve had enough fishing, walk right in to Ocean Eddie’s for dinner. With a perfect view of the beach and the ocean, Ocean Eddie’s keeps your romantic date night going. They have an amazing raw bar, all fresh seafood and the best cheese curds for an appetizer. If you’ve had enough seafood from fishing all night, they also have burgers and salads as well. They have a great happy hour and an amazing view. It doesn’t get much better than this.
Sailing Date Night:
If you like the water, but aren’t much for fishing, we have the perfect solution: a sunset sail.
Now through Labor Day, Rudee Tours offers sunset cruises. Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. set sail on one of the most romantic cruises that Virginia Beach has to offer. While they don’t guarantee dolphin sightings, they do guarantee a good time. For $22 per adult, you get a 90-minute tour and they even take a souvenir photo on the cruise which could be purchased after the sail.
After you’ve been out to sea, come back on dry land for some sustenance. Big Sam’s Raw Bar is just steps away from Rudee Tours, you won’t have to walk far. Big Sam’s has amazing food for every person. Whether you like seafood, burgers, tacos, or a nice salad. We recommend the crab cakes, it’s what Big Sam’s is known for! They also have a great happy hour, if you want to get dinner before the cruise. They are super budget-friendly with their ‘economic relief’ drink menu where all drinks are just under $6. Can’t beat that price for date night!
Virginia Beach has a plethora of restaurants that you can pick from for date night. If you’re in the mood for seafood, steak, Mexican, pizza, or even a brewery or winery. We have so many options to keep your date night exciting. After all, Virginia is For Lovers!
