This internship is an opportunity to gain experience in fundraising, marketing, and communications at a small nonprofit. The intern will work directly with the Executive Director, but will have the opportunity to work independently and manage projects. The intern’s projects will directly impact the organization’s fundraising totals, as well as the success of the museum’s major fundraising event. Applicants should have an interest or background in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, arts administration, or other related fields.


  • Conduct prospect research and generate lists of potential individual and corporate donors
  • Help to implement a new CRM database
  • Establish connections with potential monetary and in-kind donors
  • Maintain consistent communication with donors, via phone, email, and in-person visits
  • Review and update sponsorship request packets developed by staff
  • Develop materials for fundraising campaigns such as social media pieces, email communications, and mailings, as needed

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Show competency with Microsoft Excel and other data management systems
  • Be a creative thinker, not afraid to offer up ideas
  • Have the ability to work independently
  • Be self-motivated and well organized
  • Work efficiently and maintain deadlines
