Holiday Shopping in the Gift Shop: Home Gifts

Do you have someone in your life that loves to throw parties? What about someone who just got married or moved into a new place? If you answered “yes” to either of these, then we have a few great museum gift ideas for them this holiday season.

We actually have quite a lot of home décor items in the gift shop. Some of my favorites are the Lightbox hand towels with amazing designs of either seafood or lighthouses on them. They would look great hanging on the stove handle in anyone’s kitchen. Our glass jellyfish come in different colors and would look great as a centerpiece on any table or desk. We also have coastal coasters, as well as some adorable seahorse bottle openers. Anyone of these items would be great as an individual gift or even a gift set for a hostess, newlyweds, or a new homeowner!

The gift shop also features many unique, locally made pottery pieces. One Virginia Beach artist, Anna Freeman, brings us an array of ceramic pieces. There are mugs, oil bottles, jugs, serving dishes, and vases, all with a beach theme. Her work would be a wonderful conversation starter at any party and the perfect decoration for a kitchen or dining room. Local potter Sara Hunter offers gorgeous handmade plates and serving platters. They would be perfect for serving food and a great addition to anyone’s china cabinet.

Not only do we have pottery, but we also offer a plethora of prints, paintings, and signs to decorate your loved ones’ walls. The prints feature many different drawing and painting techniques, as well as photographs, all from local artists. Each print is unique in its own way, and I guarantee that one of your loved ones would love receiving one as a gift.

This is just some of merchandise that would be a great gift for someone in your life this holiday season. We have so much more that is sure to peak your interest and get you thinking, “I know exactly who would love to have this!” So stop by the museum and take a look through the gift shop! I’m sure you will find that special gift you’ve been searching for.
