Saying goodbye to summer is probably one of hardest goodbyes, but saying goodbye doesn’t have to mean giving up a good trip to the beach. There is plenty to enjoy at the beach in the cooler months, and with each new month Virginia Beach offers many enjoyable events.

Although the temperatures may not be as warm, those who decide to visit Virginia Beach still enjoy nice weather in the fall. Fall walks along the boardwalk, playing games on the beach and a meal at cozy local restaurants are just a few things many people enjoy. Virginia Beach also hosts numerous concerts and festivals that draw in crowds just as large as the summer events. The beach itself may not be as packed, but for most people, that is another plus.

Mark your calendars and start making plans to attend some of the most popular events in the area this October. The Wicked Whispers 2018 Halloween Festival, hosted by Hunt Club Farm, offers three haunted attractions from September 28th – October 31st. These events include “Field of Screams,” Hunt Club Haunted Hayride, and “Village of the Dead.”

The Wicked 10k and Monster Mile are races on October 26th and 27th. Participants are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costumes. Both races are a fun-filled Halloween party that run alongside the oceanfront, ending in a celebration at the Shack. The Ghost Walk at the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum is another spooky option, suitable for the whole family!

Also, as we head into October, keep in mind that a lot of local places, including the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum, offer fun events that benefit great causes. The museum’s annual Pig & Oyster Fest is on October 21st this year. This fundraising event is a fun afternoon full of food, drinks, and music. Proceeds will help the museum offer educational programs free of charge to local schools and non-profit groups.

So, trade in your swimsuits for your coziest sweater, grab your pumpkin spice latte and start planning your next beach getaway at Virginia Beach this fall!
