This internship is an opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of activities surrounding the museum’s Oral History Collection. The intern will work directly with full time staff to catalogue the existing interviews and grow the museum’s Oral History Collection. The intern’s projects will include digitizing and cataloging existing oral history interviews, assisting with the planning and execution of public oral history collection events, and conducting new video-based interviews with local residents. This position is a great opportunity for those interested in the role memory and oral stories can play within historic research.


  • Digitize existing oral history interviews
  • Listen to existing interviews and write time-stamped summaries
  • Develop a question bank for future museum-conducted oral histories
  • Conduct oral history interviews with local residents, as assigned by staff
  • Assist with the planning and execution of oral history collection events
  • Research and make recommendations about how to integrate interviews into the museum’s programs and exhibits

The ideal candidate will:

  • Show strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Have the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing
  • Have prior experience with Audacity or similar audio editing software (preferred)
