This internship is an opportunity to gain experience designing, supporting, and leading programs at a small museum. The intern will work directly with full time staff, but will have the opportunity to work independently and manage projects. The intern’s projects will directly impact the way visitors and community members experience the museum. Applicants should have an interest or background in history, education, museum studies, theatre, art history, or other related fields

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and engage visitors in the galleries
  • Lead tours and programs for school-aged, intergenerational, and adult audiences
  • Develop and implement tours and programs for a variety of audiences
  • Create participatory, informal gallery activities
  • Assist with public museum events

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing
  • Be flexible, well organized, and able to multi-task
  • Be a creative thinker, not afraid to offer up ideas
  • Have experience providing excellent customer service

20+ weekly onsite hours are required for this internship, including regular nights and weekends. The compensation for this internship is $1200 for the summer. Selected interns must be available mid-May through late August.
