Summary:

This internship is an opportunity to gain visitor service experience at a small attraction on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. The intern will work directly with full time staff, but will have the opportunity to work independently and manage projects. The intern’s projects will directly impact visitors experience, as well as the museum’s daily operations and revenue. Applicants should have an interest or background in business, tourism, or other related fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and organize Museum Gift Shop
  • Conduct observational research regarding guest experience and engagement
  • Develop surveys to measure customer satisfaction rates
  • Engage with museum visitors to promote museum memberships and events
  • Analyze survey data and make recommendations to improve guest experience
  • Provide excellent customer service within the museum and gift shop

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Be flexible and able to multi-task
  • Show competency with Microsoft Excel and other data management systems
  • Be a creative thinker, not afraid to offer up ideas
  • Have the ability to work independently
  • Work efficiently and maintain deadlines
